About This Session

About This Practice

Loving-Kindness Meditation (also known as "Metta") is a practice of the heart. Instead of focusing on the breath, you focus on generating feelings of goodwill, kindness, and warmth towards yourself and others. The practice involves silently repeating a series of phrases (e.g., "May you be happy, may you be safe...") while holding different people in your mind. It's a powerful way to cultivate compassion and reduce feelings of anger and resentment.

Benefits of This Practice

  • Increases positive emotions like love, joy, and gratitude.
  • Decreases negative emotions and symptoms of depression.
  • Builds self-compassion and reduces self-criticism.
  • Enhances empathy and strengthens social connections.
