Rajadhiraja Yoga
Rajadhiraja Yoga: The King of Kings Yoga
Rajadhiraja Yoga is a comprehensive and spiritual system of yoga introduced by Shrii Shrii Anandamurti in the mid-20th century. The name means "King of Kings Yoga," signifying its status as an all-encompassing path that integrates various yogic traditions into a cohesive whole, primarily based on Tantra and the teachings of Patanjali's Raja Yoga.
Core Philosophy
The philosophy of Rajadhiraja Yoga is rooted in Tantra, which views the universe as a manifestation of divine consciousness (Brahma). The goal of the practice is to merge the individual consciousness with the cosmic consciousness. It is a path of self-realization that emphasizes meditation as the primary tool, supported by a framework of ethical living and physical practices.
The Eight Limbs of Rajadhiraja Yoga
While based on Patanjali's eight limbs, there are some unique interpretations and additions. The practice includes asanas (postures), pranayama (breath control), and meditation, all aimed at achieving Samadhi (union).
Key Practices
- Asanas: A select group of 42 asanas are taught, each with specific effects on the chakras and glands.
- Kaoshikii & Tandava: These are two dynamic yogic dances. Kaoshikii, for both men and women, is a graceful dance with physical and spiritual benefits. Tandava is a vigorous, masculine dance representing the cosmic dance of Shiva.
- Meditation Lessons: The core of the system is a series of graded meditation lessons taught by an acharya (spiritual teacher), which include the use of a personalized mantra.
- Karma Yoga: Selfless service is an integral part of the path.
Key Poses
- Long-held static asanas like Cobra Pose, Shoulder Stand variations.
- Yoga Mudrasana
- The specific set of 42 asanas taught within the system.
