About the Pose
Dragonfly Pose is an advanced and complex arm balance that involves a deep twist and an extended leg, resembling an inversion. It demands significant hip flexibility, core strength, and upper body power. The pose teaches the integration of strength and openness, creating a beautiful shape that appears to defy gravity.
How to Practice
- From a standing position, bring one ankle over the opposite thigh in a Figure-Four shape.
- Fold forward, placing your hands on the floor.
- Hook the foot of the crossed leg over your opposite upper arm (tricep).
- Create a shelf with your arms, similar to Crow Pose, and lean forward, shifting your weight into your hands.
- As you lean, lift your standing leg off the floor and extend it out to the side.
- Keep your gaze forward to help maintain balance.
