SUP Yoga: Finding Your Flow on Water
SUP Yoga (Stand-Up Paddleboard Yoga) is the practice of performing yoga asanas on a stand-up paddleboard in a calm body of water. It adds the dynamic, ever-shifting element of water to the practice.
What to Expect in a Class
- The Board: You'll use a wide, stable paddleboard, which is anchored in place.
- A New Challenge: Poses that are easy on land become much more challenging on an unstable surface.
- Modifications: The sequence will be simpler than a studio class, with poses modified for the board.
- Getting Wet: Falling in is part of the fun!
- An Unforgettable Savasana: Final relaxation lying on the board, gently rocked by the water.
Key Poses
- Seated poses like Easy Pose (Sukhasana)
- Tabletop and Cat-Cow
- Low Lunge (Anjaneyasana)
- Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
- More advanced practitioners might try Warrior II or even Crow Pose.
