About the Pose

A deep backbend from a kneeling position, considered a preparatory pose for Kapotasana (King Pigeon). It involves arching back to place the crown of the head on the floor.

How to Practice

  1. Kneel with your hands on your thighs. Inhale to lift the chest.
  2. Exhale and begin to arch back, leading with your heart. Engage your core for support.
  3. Reach back and grab your ankles or calves, then lower the crown of your head to the floor.

  • Deep Spinal Opening: Provides a very deep stretch for the entire spine.
  • Stretches Front Body: Opens the quadriceps, hip flexors, and chest.
