About the Pose

Jyestikasana is a simple yet profound restorative pose. It involves lying on the stomach with the arms stretched overhead and interlaced, allowing the body to completely relax and surrender to gravity. It is a pose of passive release, designed to calm the nervous system and gently stretch the front of the body.

How to Practice

  1. Lie flat on your stomach.
  2. Stretch your arms overhead and interlace your fingers, resting your forehead on your forearms or directly on the mat.
  3. Allow your legs to be relaxed, with your heels falling out to the sides.
  4. Close your eyes and bring your full attention to your breath. Feel your belly gently press into the floor on each inhale and soften on each exhale.
  5. Surrender the full weight of your body to the floor and remain for several minutes.
