About the Pose
Jyestikasana is a simple yet profound restorative pose. It involves lying on the stomach with the arms stretched overhead and interlaced, allowing the body to completely relax and surrender to gravity. It is a pose of passive release, designed to calm the nervous system and gently stretch the front of the body.
How to Practice
- Lie flat on your stomach.
- Stretch your arms overhead and interlace your fingers, resting your forehead on your forearms or directly on the mat.
- Allow your legs to be relaxed, with your heels falling out to the sides.
- Close your eyes and bring your full attention to your breath. Feel your belly gently press into the floor on each inhale and soften on each exhale.
- Surrender the full weight of your body to the floor and remain for several minutes.
