About the Pose
Triangle Pose is a foundational standing pose that creates length and space throughout the body. It stretches the hamstrings, hips, and side body while building strength in the legs and core.
How to Practice
- Start with your feet wide apart. Turn your front foot out 90 degrees and your back foot in slightly.
- Extend your arms parallel to the floor.
- Reach forward over your front leg, then hinge at your hip to bring your front hand down to your shin, a block, or the floor.
- Extend your top arm to the sky, stacking your shoulders.
- Gaze can be up towards your top hand, forward, or down.
Purpose & Benefits
- Stretches Legs and Hips: Lengthens the hamstrings, groins, and hips.
- Opens Chest and Shoulders: Creates space across the front of the body.
