About the Pose

Triangle Pose is a foundational standing pose that creates length and space throughout the body. It stretches the hamstrings, hips, and side body while building strength in the legs and core.

How to Practice

  1. Start with your feet wide apart. Turn your front foot out 90 degrees and your back foot in slightly.
  2. Extend your arms parallel to the floor.
  3. Reach forward over your front leg, then hinge at your hip to bring your front hand down to your shin, a block, or the floor.
  4. Extend your top arm to the sky, stacking your shoulders.
  5. Gaze can be up towards your top hand, forward, or down.

Purpose & Benefits

  • Stretches Legs and Hips: Lengthens the hamstrings, groins, and hips.
  • Opens Chest and Shoulders: Creates space across the front of the body.
  • Strengthens Core: Engages the oblique muscles to support the torso.
