About the Pose

Also known as Upward Bow Pose, Wheel Pose is a deep, full backbend that forms a dramatic arch with the body. It is a powerful heart-opener that builds strength in the arms, legs, and spine while providing a deep stretch for the entire front body.

How to Practice

  1. Lie on your back with knees bent, feet hip-width apart. Place your hands on the mat beside your ears, fingers pointing towards your shoulders.
  2. Press into your feet and lift your hips, coming to the crown of your head first.
  3. Pause, then press firmly into your hands to straighten your arms and lift your head off the floor.

Purpose & Benefits

  • Builds Full-Body Strength: Strengthens the arms, wrists, legs, buttocks, abdomen, and spine.
